A nice break was the variety night''Undiscovered Talents''. Quite good was a gang with self made songs about the camp, a fellow imitating famous men outside and less famous men inside the barbed wire. 3 prizes were distributed. After winners had been chosen by the audience and their talents had been discovered. Today was an interesting report from a former internee of camp ''R'' He got released and came here to wait for the shipment, Jews, Communists, ''Royal British'' Nazi, civilian interns, seamen. A queer lot and a queer life , interesting to hear that most escapes are carried out by communists and not by the Nazis. We're far less liked than Nazi's

Had a fine Mozart music evening on Thursday night. Cut my first tree that day.

a number of lectures quite a lot of people turn up. We have great difficulties with time, room and material.

I have started physics and had to stop it again as the lectures were at times very unsuitable to me. I have joined a party going to a ''farm'' an Experimental Station by the Government to work there or in the woods cutting trees and making pit props. These are Canada's new export item and we're to help to make the wood required for Britains mining and war industries. So I am on a job of ''national importance '' again. (LPa3) and without Auxiliary War Service permit but a blue-red-behind-the-barbed-wire soldier for 20 cents a day. That's the reward for loyalty the democratic cause.

Today I had an interview withMr. Paterson, the representative of (LD20AIR) the British Home Office who has come to Canada to deal with the our problem annd talk with the Government of their dominion and the U.S.
