One patient the famous Newman twin tells us adventures from his career. We have some great laughs - Hospital has WC and bath and sometimes hot water. You feel yourself a step nearer civilization already. Just growing comfortable there, I am ''released'' from Hospital.

[RE LD 2)I am very glad to receive first letter from Lily direct to Canada. No letter of mine had reached her at the time of its departure. Have heard that our letters arrived about middle of September sent ofin the middle of July! - (LD11) Camp gets excited by rumours about separation of non-Jews.

Lists are made. Rumours become official but after some time decisions were altered again.

Between 100 and 170 will have to leave the camp to reduce it to about 600 people. We are now 707. (RE LH2) Now only those non-Jews who want to go voluntarily are to be moved. Decisions are still pending.

(LH3) Letter from Ernest [Horwitz] and 2 D.Harrop. Money for the first time since internment.

Spent some cents in our cafe as result of receipt of money. Young MO back again. Crowds are being taken to prison for crimes as not properly cleaning dishes, etc. But the water is not running always yet.

Living newspaper.

Formerly there always had been a cry for work and now there is plenty and you can't get enough voluntary workers. Most of the work are labouring on unpleasant job against a pay that can by four twopence blocks of chocolate a day. It is found that for clean jobs Canadians workmen are on the scene, but for digging in the mud great use can be made of us. People who wanted to work on certain jobs and being put on others by the M. A. (military authorities) refused got straight into jails. That (PcD12) is called voluntary work. Labour Exchanges of our organization did their best to organize working parties. There are difficulties especially in getting enough people and soldiers just about through the camp to collect ''voluntary workers''.
