Had a very good variety show Coffee party in our group. Subject Heine about England.

You can hardly realize that Xmas is near once again. How quickly seemed the year to have passed.

Part of the guard's have gone on leave. It is a pleasure not to hear always their desparate calls for work and other rather less, than more pleasant occupations. There was quite a cheers party for the the less religious.

(RE LD 9) - Wednesday, December 25: Mother's birthday. What will she be doing and thinking on this day? And Lily and all my dear friends? And I am sitting here have to content myself with turkey and memories: Was surprised by letter from Sina. The good soul thinks to get me to U.S. as if that would be (LB1) as easy as going for a vacation trip.

Put my name on a list for people with preparations for emigration to the U.S. Though I haven't any, but to have one's name on as many lists as they are, and, will be may perhaps some time in the distant future, become of some value. Don't think there will much come out of it all. Yet I want to close for this year that has brought so complete and unforeseen changes with the hope that everything will add to the experiences and some day we will go to build up a better world that will stand for good (... at least for the next 25 years till the next generation and the armaments industries are building and ready for a war for freedom and liberty again). Spent New Year night with variety, ice cream, hotdogs, milk and toasted the arrival of 1941 with a bottle of cocoa.
