From the outset in 1936, the PBS saw the importance of employing local staff, both Jewish and Arab, at all professional levels of the broadcasting industry. Writers, editors, journalists, broadcasters, actors, translators, engineers, educators, to name just a few of the professions needed.

The local press (Davar, Haaretz, Palestine Post, etc) could be relied upon to give the daily schedules of the broadcasts, and some highlights of the week ahead or even of that day, some criticism of the broadcasts, a listener's comment or two, but little else. The PBS became a publisher in order to publish more in-depth articles on the subject, and/or transcripts of the more significant programs, and they had to do that in the three "official" languages (English, Hebrew and Arabic):

1) The Radio Service of Palestine (Sherut HaRadio Shel Palestina), weekly, in Hebrew: 1936-1938

2) Radio Jerusalem, bi-lingual (Hebrew and English): As a separate publication it was published weekly from 1938-1943, thereafter incorporated into the "Forum" and "Hagalgal" bi-monthly, till till November 1944.

3) Al Muntada (Arabic), monthly, from April 1943 -March 1946, became a weekly, starting Friday, February 8, 1946. Al Muntada began to list PBS radio schedules when it became a weekly. The Hebrew broadcasts were given a new frequency (527 meters while the Arabic broadcasts remained on 449.1 meters) and the Hebrew radio no longer listed details of the Arabic programs. Al-Muntada continued as weekly until March 1947, when it stopped publication, and was replaced by Al Qafila see below.

4) Hagalgal (Hebrew) , a bi-weekly, (every other wek) from June 1943 till November 1944, and thereafter a weekly. Hagalgal continued publication till April 1948.

5) Al Qafila ( "The Caravan" or the "The Convoy"): A weekly, short-lived, April 1947 till November 1947 only.

6) Forum (in English): A weekly a digest of articles from the British and American press, such as the Spectator, the Listener, the Economist, New York Times, among others. It also included, the PBS broadcasting schedules, and some local advertising. It began in 1938, and ended with Vol. 9, no.3, 1946 when it was superseded by Radio Week.

7) Radio Week (in English) replaces Forum.

1. Radio Service of Palestine: Broadcasting Schedule (Sherut HaRadio Shel Palestina: Tochniot Rishmiot) Published weekly by The Posts, Telegraph and Telephone of Palestine (Eretzisrael). In Hebrew: הדואר, הטלגרף והטלפון של פלשתינה (א''י) abbreviated to their logo: ד. ט.ט. פ (א''י) The first issue came out March 30, 1936 for the inauguration. Schedules included the English, Arabic and Hebrew programs, but it was published in Hebrew only.	2. Jerusalem Radio: The only Radio Publication in Palestine. The first issue came out Friday, September 30, 1938. Bi-Lingual publication: Hebrew and English Included schedules and background stories.	3. Al Muntada (Arabic): Monthly, April 1943 -March 1946, becoming a weekly, from Friday, February 8, 1946. Al Muntada began to list PBS radio schedules only after changes at the PBS when the Hebrew broadcasts were given a new frequency (527 meters) separating it from the Arabic broadcasts, which continued at the 449.1 meters frequency. With the changes, the official Hebrew radio publication, Hagalgal, no longer listed details of the Arabic programs. Al-Muntada continued as weekly until March 1947, when it stopped publication, and was replaced by Al Qafila see below.
4. Hagalgal (The Wheel): Initially a bi-weekly. The first issue came out Thursday, June 22, 1943 In Hebrew only. Included schedules, background stories and reprints of talks (transcripts) of some of the shows. It was modelled on a combination of the The Radio Times for schedules and background stories, and The Listener for reprints of talks (transcripts) and criticism of the programs.	5. Al Qafila ("The Caravan" or the "The Convoy"). A weekly , April 1947 till November 1947.	6. Forum (in English)

קול ירושלים לנוער: לוח קיר נוסף לחוברת שלחנו השבוע לכל בית ספר לוחות קיר שיתלו בכל כיתה וכיתה ובהם פרטים על כל התוכניות המכוונות לנוער, החל מן הילד הקטן וגמור בנער בן הכיתה השמינית בגמנסיה. השתדלנו להמציא לכם את חומר העזר שבכתב בעוד מועד -- יהודית ידידיה ב''הגלגל'' כרך ד' גליון 15, נובמבר 7, 1946, עמ 16

קול ירושלים לתלמיד: שידורים לבתי-הספר יודעים  אנו שהמורים והתלמידים גם יחד יוכלו להפיק תועלת גדולה יותר מן השידורים, אם יהיה בידם חומר בכתב שלפיו יתכוננו להאזין.  הוצאנו לשם כך חוברת מיוחדת הנושאת את השם '' קול ירושלים לתלמיד'' ובה פרטים מלאים על השידורים לבתי הספר.  החוברת תחולק חינם בין כל התלמידים באותם בתי הספר, שיש ברשותם מקלטי -- -- יהודית ידידיה ב''הגלגל'' כרך ד' גליון 15, נובמבר 7, 1946, עמ 16.

מר מרדכי זלוטניק, המפקח על התכניות העבריות כתב את דברי הפתיחה הבאים לחוברת הראשונה ...

חוברת ראשונה זו היא פרי נסיון של יותר משלוש שנות שידור על נושא זה, שבוע שבוע ללא הפסק.

מאחורי חוברת זו עומדים מוסדות בעלי משקל כמחלקת התזונה של הדסה, ומחלקת הפיקוח על המזון, שהיה ביכלתם לרדת עד חקר בעיות התזונה.

אני יודע מכיר את אהדה הרבה שאתן רוכשות לתכנית ''במעגלי תזונה'', שמורים אצלי יותר 4,000 מכתבים של מאזינות שפנו אי פעם ושאלו שאלות ועצות הדרכה או הציעו הצעות. תכניות ''במעגלי תזונה'' היו בנויות וערוכות כתשובה לשאלות אלו. לכן אני מקוה כי רבות המאזינות שקבלו הדרכה בלתי פוסקת במטבחן, תשמחנה להופעת חוברת זו.

ממחלקת התזונה של ''הדסה'', שעד כה הרביצה תורת התזונה ברבים בקורסים לבישול, בתערוכות מזון ובחוברות מיוחדות, ספרו לי כי בזמן המלחמה הושגו הישגים נכרים לא רק בהתגברות על תקופות המחסור הסתגלות למזונות-תחליף אלא ובעקר הוחדרה הכרת התזונה בלב רבות מעקרות הבית, שהיו אדישות עד כה לבעיה זו. ונדמה לי כי יכול אני לומר ללא חשש של הגזמה כי הרבה יש לזקוף לזכות השידורים ברדיו. ובהזדמנות זו אני רואה לעצמי חובה נעימה להודות למח' התזונה של ''הדסה'' ובמיוחד לגב' ר. רייך -פוזננסקי על שיתוף הפעולה האמיץ בכל שנות שידורי ''במעגלי תזונה''.

סיפוק מה יש גם לי מהישג זה. דברים הנאמרים ברדיו מסיימים לרוב את תפקידים מיד לאחר האמרם או לאחר שהשפעתם והדם חולפים - אך בחוברת זו אני רואה את התפקיד הכפול של הרדיו: הרדיו אינו ממלא רק תפקיד לשעה אלא גם כעין שדה נסיון וחקירה, כעין כור צורפים לחומר בלתי מעובד, חדש ביסודו, בארץ בעלת מנהגי מזון שונים מן הקצה אל הקצה. בעיבוד החומר השתתפו גם המאזינות הרבות שגלו ערות מעודדת והגיבו בכל הזדמנות מתוך ענין רב. נקוה איפוא שסדרת חוברות זו תתקבל באותה אהדה שזכו לה השידורים.
